Structed Text Export is at the moment basically meant for self-written import programs. There's no "standard" program which can import Structured Text Import as far I know.
The idea of Structured Text Export is also quite logical for me: it provides full data content, and it works even in Notes 3 (I think, at least it's one of the oldest export formats which Notes has), and it used to be the ONLY format which exports really ALL data. For programmers the most important thing is that they have a file which has ALL the data (and preferrably in ASCII format), since doing an import agent for their own application is just a 5-10 minute job. And making an import agent for example for Excel or Lotus 1-2-3 is totally ridiculous, as they are binary formats which need a long time to be analyzed (unless documentation is available).
